Papertank
Pretty self explanatory. Examples: AMX 50 100, STA-1 and many similar. The meaning of this is that they will have a laid back or passive role on the battlefield and in the platoon...meaning that usually other platoon members are "forced" into heavy tanks to hold or push one or more of the flanks...while the papertank awaits its opportunity to deal damage.
"Real" medium tank
Refering to a tank being a medium tank in the sense that it has good brawling ability. Usually consisting of traits like good speed, turning of turret and tank, not too big in size and hoppefully some amount of luck-armor. The russian and chineese mediums are usually the best examples of this "real" medium tank. Some of the german...like the Panther...not so. It lacks somewhat in speed and turret turning. Usually referred to as "snipermediums". The higher tier E50 however is more close to being a real medium and can definately be used in such platoons.
Then we have the papermediums like STA-1 and similar. They simply can never bounce a shot and will hence be hard to use in a push (wolfpack). The AMX 30 is such a tank but because it is a very potent tank, more or less using speed and agility as its "armor" it could be used in a medium-platoon by a very skilled player and/or in a platoon that has excellent teamplay.
The T54E1 is not completely paper but a bit slow...also adding it to the "not real" mediums group, like most autolader mediums (not sure about the czeck ones yet).
Please understand that I am not saying that theese "odd" kind of mediums (papermediums, snipermediums and autoloadermediums) can not be used in a platoon. I am just saying that if they are used then the other players should probably use heavies instead as the ability to push and/or relocate together will be less.
