List of tanks
Note: This page is a outdated but I am leaving it here to show the outline.
Tanks that I think are good for platooning. It is good if you have most of these or similar:
Tier 3: Pz III E, Pz38(t), Locust, T 15, Cruiser II, T 15, FCM PAK
( Tier 4 special matchmaking (smm): Valentine II )
Tier 4: Luchs, Pz38na, Pz III J, M5A1 Stuart
Tier 5: T-34, M4, Pz T-25, Pz IV, O-I exp., Ram II, KV-1, T1 Heavy, AT-2, Pz III/IV
Tier 6: Type 58, T-34-85, Cromwell, A-43, T-150, ARL-44, O-I, M6, VK3001P
Tier 7: T-43, Comet, T-34-1, KV-13, VK3002D, A-44, T34/100, T-20, T29, O-Ni, Tiger I
( Tier 7 smm: E25, Panther/M10, AT 15A, T23E3 )
Tier 8: Pershing, Object 416, T32, IS-3, O-HO
Tier 9: E50, Patton M46, WZ-120, T-54, Object 430 II, E-75, M103, ST-I, VK 4502 B
Tier 10: Object 140, T62-A, Patton M48, Object 430, Pz VII, IS-7, Maus, 113
Note:
Please understand that almost all tanks can be played in platoon but these listed are what I consider the "bread and butter" of platooning tanks (however: see "platoon setup rules" on the main page.) These tanks are good for active teamplay and also they can be used to weigh up passive tanks (you wont win with 3 Grille 15). Also if the players in the platoon are not used to each other or someone is new to platooning these are the tanks that should be used the most.
Note #2:
Special matchmaking tanks are usually not worth it much since after patch 9.18. Apart from some exceptions.
Note #3:
Most premium and light tanks are not listed. Most of them are ok though.

Platoon of the month
I am mostly playing the ELC EVEN nowdays when I play solo. It is hard to carry with this tank but I like to spot so at least that works. It can be hard to platoon with this tank but a perfect sniper buddy could be a Scorpion G or similar. A full mixed platoon could work also, for example: ELC EVEN, Scorpion G and O-HO (or similar).
"Expert mode teamplay" would be 3 x Wheeled. This would require very high level of teamplay, communication and driving. You are basically switching between Freeplay/spotting/sniping/saving HP and "Coordinated swarming".
Tier 7 light tanks like T71 CMCD and WZ-131 works very well in co-ordinated wolfpack platoons. It doesnt have an autolader so you don't have the problem with one of the platoon mates being on reload all of a sudden.

Arty
Although arty has been nerfed beyond recognition it can work decently in some platoons. This list does not pretend to be the one and only but it is still better then nothing. Remember that low tier arty (3-7) are almost as dangerous as arty used to be.
Tier 3: Bison
Tier 4: Sturmpanzer II
Tier 5: Grille, Bishop, LeFH
Tier 6: Most of them although the M44 is the best.
Tier 7: Most of them.
Tier 8: Most of them.
Tier 9: Soviet, french, brittish or german one.
Tier 10: Soviet, french or german one.
